It's only a matter of time before law enforcement agencies start to take advantage of the opportunities created by all these internet-connected devices. And if the FBI wins its legal fight with Apple, it could establish a precedent that opens the door to the use of the All Writs Act for other types of surveillance.
As the number of internet connected, microphone enabled handheld and home devices increase in the world, the surveillance folks will continue to look at ways to use all that data. Unfortunately their end is global surveillance. Don't give in USA. Be a champion for unnecessary surveillance and stop feeding the paranoid culture that is teeming to undo civil liberties.
National security is important. However, massive global surveillance is not the means to achieve it. There are far more effective ways to address it while preserving individual privacy.
