Even as India modernizes, witchcraft accusations are common, leading to the murders of over 2,000 people, mostly women, in the last 15 years. One woman in Assam State in the country's northeast is confronting accusers and demanding government action.

Smt. Rabha's calling has (finally) made the state of Assam pass a law that bans murdering women after being accused of being a witch. It saddens that it took the courage, determination and the perseverance of Smt Rabha and that it is not a protection for women, nationally. =|
