Calling it one of his toughest decisions, CEO Thejo Kote explained that the move was necessary in order to allow Automatic to focus on two market verticals that have proven successful: Auto insurance and fleet management.
Automatic, one of my favorite technology things of late is moving the enteprise route. Did they hire Jack Barker?
Automatic will continue to sell its adapter online and in retail stores. Its software will also remain supported, but the team itself will focus on the new verticals.
That makes me really sad. What's worse, there is a 'feed your customer some stuff' type blog post to accompany this too. Not enough developers focused on the consumer product leads to less bug fixes, less features and the product dying.
Sad day. I was about to purchase the new adapter. But, now it is wait and see. Hope they survive.
